Acrylic Glazing

Acrylic Glazing | Insulating Glass | Laminated Glass | Polycarbonate Glazing | Tempered Glass

Acrylic Glazing Samples Multi-coloured, opaque, translucent and transparent acrylic
Acrylic Glazing.

Acrylic GlazingAcrylic is 10 to 20 times more impact resistant than glass and does not shatter like tempered glass. Instead, acrylic dents if the impact is strong enough. Acrylic glazing comes in many different colours and levels of clarity or opacity. Acrylic Glazing is a tough, transparent thermoplastic polymer of methyl methacrylate. It is used as a substitute for glass under the proprietary names of Perspex, Plexiglas and Lucite. Acrylic glazing provides an unsurpassed light transmission, matching that of glass and is half its weight. Inherently UV resistant, acrylic glazing is the ultimate choice in high traffic acoustic barriers. At 17 times more impact resistant, Acrylic Glazing makes an outstanding glazing material.

Key Benefits

  • Half the weight of glass at comparable thickness

  • Does not shatter like glass (cracks if the force is sufficient to cause the acrylic glazing to fail)

  • Remains stable under sustained exposure to the elements

  • Excellent resistance to attack by many chemicals although it is affected, in varying degrees, by benzene, toluene, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl and methyl alcohol, lacquer thinners, ethers, ketones and esters.

  • Light transmittance of 92%. It is clearer than window glass and will not turn yellow.

  • Exceptional weathering characteristics
