Laminated Glass

Acrylic Glazing | Insulating Glass | Laminated Glass | Polycarbonate Glazing | Tempered Glass

Laminated Glazing Construction Sample Laminated Safety Glass - Shattered Yet Held Together By Interlayer

Laminated GlassLaminated Glass has a vinyl interlayer which remains in the frame should the glass be broken as glass fragments adhere to the vinyl film "sandwiched" within the glass thereby minimizing risk of injury. This produces a characteristic "spider web" cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass.

Unforeseen climate conditions can and do wreak havoc to homes and businesses. This is where laminated safety glass can make a huge difference for safety and security. During windstorms and hurricanes, windborne debris is common, and following impact, windows may be subjected to sustained, gusting winds. When broken, the glass fragments tend to remain integral, adhering to the plastic interlayer, helping to preserve the stability of the building envelope.

  • Provides a strong barrier against forced entry
  • Cannot be cut from one side only
  • Significantly reduces sound transmission ideal for high-traffic areas and other noisy areas
  • Blocks up to 97% of harmful UV radiation

Breaking through laminated glass is a time-consuming exercise few thieves are willing to spend to gain access to your valuables and collectibles. Laminated glass may well be worth considering as part of an overall safety and security strategy. It is most commonly used in the fabrication of front windshield in the automotive industry but is also used in providing extra safety and security to homes and businesses.

Laminated glass also is an effective way to reduce unwanted outside noise. This is especially useful in areas near airports, industry, traffic, or wherever unpleasant sounds exist.
